For once the weather was kind to us for our food and wine evening, and we were able to taste three different bottles of fizz outside before we sat down to delicious food, and three bottles of red and three of white. As you can imagine it was an extremely jolly occasion. Surprisingly, everybody did well in the competition and left reasonably sober. Congratulations to Shaun for winning the competition, and a special thank you to Sylvia for organising taxis and for selecting such interesting wines. These included a rare red from Spain (Bopal), and an excellent Hungarian Gruner Veltliner from Majestic at half of the price of Austrian versions. Our next meeting is on 27th July when John will bring a selection of Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Michael Switzer.
