Seventeen of us set out on Eddie and Edith’s walk from Ashley fearing the worst after recent rain and we weren’t disappointed! The walk took us up to the 6-way Finger Post above Sutton Bassett, then down via the Stoke Albany Golf Club into the village where we admired the profusion of snowdrops by the church. The shorter return to Ashley went up and down over the hills. Mud was the name of the game and no more so than just as we re-entered the village by the farm at the end of Gullet Lane. Thankfully the deep slime there was negotiated by everyone without mishap! Luckily though, the sun kept us smiling throughout the walk and we all returned home none the worse for wear but with some horribly mucky boots!
