This month’s walk, led by Linda and Frank, will start at 10.00am on Wednesday 14 August from Launde Abbey. It will be 5.6 miles across fields, wide grass paths and very quiet paved roads. There are very few stiles, but it is quite hilly, so we don’t expect to be back much before 1.00pm.
There are several routes to Launde Abbey. One suggestion is to take B6047 Melton Road north through Tur Langton to join the A47. Turn right on A47 towards Uppingham. After 4.0 miles turn left into East Norton and follow signs for Loddington, then Launde Abbey. Alternatively East Norton can be reached via Hallaton. Should take about 35 minutes. If weather permits, please park on the grass near the house, but if necessary we can use the visitor car park if there are any spaces.
There is a short cut which anybody can take, if necessary, which reduces the walk to 3.8 miles. Still hilly up the short cut, but they can take their time up the hill and recover at the top until the rest of the group catch up. The 1.5 mile home run is then relatively level.
