Starting at the church at Welham thirteen members of the walking group set off climbing up hill towards the Langton Caudle. After a brief stop at the top of the hill to catch our breathe we walked through several grass fields being careful to avoid the numerous rabbit burrows and badger sett. Then it was down hill to the small village of Thorpe Langton where we were amazed to see Cyclamen and Aconites flowering in the gardens. After walking along the Bowden road we took the bridleway over to Bowden Lane and then it was back to The old Red Lion pub for a well deserved lunch .
The next walk for our group is on Tuesday 5th March. Please meet at The Old Barn Inn at Glooston village LE16 7ST at 10.15am to order food. The walk will start at 10.30 am. This easy gently undulating walk starts at the church in Glooston. Its graveyard is a mass of snowdrops and aconites. Then we cross mainly grass fields to the small hamlet of Stonton Wyville. Here we leave the Leicestershire Round and head towards Nosely along a quiet road and tracks. Lovely rural views and lots of wildlife. Then we head back across fields to Glooston. This walk is just over 4 miles.
