U3A Summer School

It was with a mixture of excitement and trepidation that I arrived at Aston university for the National Summer school. It has been a long time since I stayed in student accomodation but was generally impressed with the organisation of the event and the conference centre which was to be our home for most activities. Food and facilities were excellent and once I had met with the rest of my tutorial group we started to enjoy playing our ukuleles together.

There was not much formal teaching but I felt I was improving all the time and picking up tips from both tutor and colleagues. We became a very noisy group with much laughter and some people could just not stop strumming! We were entertained by two very accomplished young men with bassoons on one evening and on the last night became the entertainment ourselves, along with the singers. So much talent.

All too soon  it was time to say goodbye to all the people who had been such good company, all of us wondering if we would do it again.  Who knows? Have uke will travel.
