October Outing Report

Sunshine from the off this month! A glorious October day saw us at the Rutland Water Egleton Reserve for an ‘All-dayer’. The birds didn’t disappoint either with not one, two or three but four Great White

Little and Great White Egrets

Egrets (pictured) to be seen; far more numerous, as expected, were Little Egrets and plenty of Grey Herons too. Pick of the raptors were two Marsh Harriers but also seen were Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard and Red Kite. Most of the Winter ducks were around in large numbers; of note were a few Red Crested Pochard out on

Still aound were a couple of butterflies – a red admiral and a comma and dragonfly-wise, a Migrant Hawker and several Common Darters.
