Seven No Trumps Bid and Made – Success

On Saturday 23rd November, some 36 intrepid bridge players gathered at The Angel for a challenging day of play. The players came from U3A’s from all around Leicestershire including SLU3A, Lutterworth, Melton Mowbray, Wycliffe, Hinckley and Leicester.
The day was broken into two sessions each led by James Miller from Loughborough who introduced the main aim of the session and gave advice as to how to approach the problems that the cards presented. The Angel happily supplied coffee and tea throughout both sessions for those of us that felt the need for liquid sustenance. There were 9 tables operating and everybody set to with “gusto”.
A break was taken at 12.30 and again The Angel “turned up trumps” by providing an excellent sandwich buffet lunch which was very much enjoyed by all.
The afternoon session followed a similar pattern to that of the morning and at the finish at 4.30 was greeted by everybody with tired but happy smiles. All the participants made it very plain as to how successful the day had been for them and congratulated Jim for all his efforts as well as being very complimentary about the venue and the arrangements for the day.
From the photo above it can be seen that there are many Bridge lovers in the region and how much a simple card game can be used for meeting with and making friends with many different people.
