During September our team of volunteers from SLU3A and MHU3A have been taking photos and recording information about retail premises in and around Market Harborough town centre. This represents our contribution to a national U3A research project which aims to capture changes taking place in high streets and shopping locations across the country. September’s snapshot will be used as a baseline from which to monitor changes over the next couple of years and it will be particularly interesting to observe the effects that current behavioural changes caused by the coronavirus pandemic, such as a rise in internet shopping and working from home, may have on our high streets. The final national project report will be used to help raise the profile of U3A in its 40th Anniversary year in 2022.
