At our May meeting Amanda presented the programme of music. We began with a piece for violin ‘Passacaglia in G minor’ by Heinrich von Biber (1644-1706). The soloist was David Le Page who plays frequently in the Congregational Church in the regular concerts by the Harborough Collective. This was followed by ‘Olimpiade’ by Giovanni Pergolesi (1710-1736) and the ‘Dies irae’ from the War Requiem by Benjamin Britten (1913-1976). The first part of the morning finished with part of the evocative soundtrack from ‘The Piano’ by Michael Nyman (b1944). After coffee we listened to the Piano Concerto in A minor by Edvard Grieg (1843-1907). We finished with ‘Caprice No. 24’ by Niccolo Paganini (1782-1840), the soloist again being David Le Page.
Our next meeting is on Tuesday, 21 June, when Peter will present the music. We have a vacancy for one new member, so if you are interested in joining us please contact Peter.
