Our March Meeting was devoted to Chamber Music. We opened the programme with Anton Arensky’s Piano Trio in D Minor. Arensky was a pupil of both Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky and the piece reflects the influence of both composers. The piano Trio in A Minor by the latter was represented by the first movement . We then moved back in time to hear two movements from Franz Schubert’s F Major Octet and his Quartettsatz from a movement of an unfinished String quartet and found with his 9th Symphony by Robert Schumann several years after Schubert’s death. The morning ended with a selection from Maurice Ravel’s Piano Trio in A Minor.
Our next Meeting will be on Friday 26th April as usual at 19 Westfield Close.
