Local History – January 2021

Firstly we would like to wish everyone a very happy New Year. Although we are still faced with restrictions, the prospect of vaccinations gives us hope that at least by the late spring or summer we may be able to resume  normal meetings.

In the meantime, our meetings will be offered to all U3A members via Zoom.

For our first meeting of 2021 on Tuesday 19 January at 2.00 pm, we look forward to welcoming Michael Milsom and Colin Cohen.

Their talks will be as follows:

Michael: Edward and Mary Kennard of Little Bowden

Colin: Oranges and Lemons – a Little Bit of London History

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the meeting

To remind us of pre-covid days, we enclose a further poster from January 2005. We will continue to issue these over the coming months.

Also under the Local History section of the Website, we are including a further part of a map of Harborough town centre, which we believe dates from the late 50’s or early 60’s. It shows how much of the centre has changed over the last 40 plus years. Further sections of these maps will be issued again over the coming months”.

We would both like to wish you a very Happy New Year– take care and we look forward to a better year in 2021.
