Local History – August

We had a most interesting and enjoyable talk in July from Brian Johnson on Country Railway Station. We were very pleased to be joined by a number of the Members from the Railway Exploration Group

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 20 August, when we are looking forward to welcoming Colin Brooks who was the Official Photographer to Leicester University Archaeological Team, who were involved in the discovery of Richard III. His presentation will be Richard III, a Photographers Prospective and should be really interesting with photographs from unusual angles of the dig and subsequent events

The meeting will commence at 2.00 pm, with tea and coffee available afterwards.

This meeting will be the last opportunity for members to put their names down for our visit on Tuesday 17 September to the National Gas Museum in Leicester.  Entrance to the museum is free and we are booked for a Talk from the Curator and a Tour at 12.30 pm.  Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available to buy, but need to be requested when you book the visit.  Minibuses have again been arranged for those requiring this service at a cost of £3 per person and will be leaving from the Market Hall at 11.30 am.
