Keith Gilbert, who passed away on 14th December 2019, was one of the founder members of SLU3A. His membership number – 53 – tells its own story, I.e. he and Jennifer signed up with SLU3A in early May 2000. Keith made a significant contribution to setting up our main infrastructure and the early groups of our fledgling organisation. His presence at meetings and groups continued for the next 17 or 18 years. Until fairly recently he was a regular attender at the Langton lunch clubs and I enjoyed supernumerary lunchtime chats with Keith which I now sadly miss. In the 1980’s we were next door neighbours (we had a long standing joke the he and Jennifer only moved house because they could not deal with the folk next door). Keith and Jennifer have been our friends for almost 40 years. Keith will be missed by the several groups he was associated with. He always had kind and encouraging words for those running the groups and trying to keep order and maintain an interesting programme. “Well done Keith!!!” Your presence amongst us will unquestionably be missed.
We send Jennifer and sons Andrew and Ian and their families our kindest regards
