June outing report

Our all day visit to Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s Attenborough Reserve on the longest day of the year was rewarded with a fine sunny day. Birds of note seen were an Australian (Black) Swan, several Black-tailed Godwits in full summer plumage, a couple of Garganey going into eclipse plumage, a couple of Red-crested Pochard likewise and a pair of Kingfisher dashing to and fro on one of the lakes.

Damselflies were much in evidence, mainly Common Blue, Blue-tailed and Demoiselles and a few Brown Hawkers were hawking down by the River Trent. Butterflies were not nearly so numerous but Speckled Wood, Meadow Brown and Ringlet were seen.
