From the Chair – December

From the Chair

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is almost upon us once more!  It came to me this late November afternoon as I carried home a seasonal wreath, made at a village workshop, and now hanging proudly on the front of the house.  Another retirement first!   I hope that members will be enjoying one of the great strengths of belonging to SLU3A – the chance to meet members, old and new, and enjoy the festive season together.

For the Committee it has been another busy month with a successful Group Leaders’ Workshop, where it provided a chance to catch up and exchange views on current initiatives.  We also attended our fourth, informal coffee morning for new members this year and are delighted to report how well these are received.  Plans for the 20th Anniversary celebrations next year are well underway, too, and details will follow in the new year.  Lastly, we are delighted to announce that Paul Simpson has been co opted as Treasurer Elect and will be taking over from Martin Thom at the end of January (see article).

That leaves me to wish you all a happy Christmas and best wishes for 2020.
