It certainly feels as if life is beginning to return to normal with more groups meeting up and our first monthly meeting having taken place with plans afoot to trial hybrid meetings (working with Market harborough u3a) so that we can continue to meet with members in new ways. Although I was on holiday at the time, I was also delighted to hear that the Volunteer Fair last month was a success, resulting in new members joining and many others expressing an interest in doing so. Thank you to those that volunteered to help on the day. The recent East Midlands Conference also provided a welcome opportunity to meet with members of other u3as to exchange ideas, as well as to hear an introductory from the TAT new national Chair, Liz Thackeray. The creation of Harorough and Welland u3a continues to progress very well. The new constitution has been agreed, signed by all members of the Steering Group and is awaiting feedback from TAT. The monthly meet ups of this Group are working very well and I am sure that as autumn progresses the impetus will increase, resulting in lots more information to share with you on how this exciting new development will be rolled out. Seriously, too, if anyone is interested in finding out more about how a u3a committee works and wondering if it is something with which you might like to get involved, then do get in touch and you could sit in on an slu3a Committee meeting as an observer. The creation of the new u3a will be a unique opportunity for members to take on a new challenge and contribute ideas early in the new year: a superb chance to make things happen!
