From the Chair

Whether we are in the throes of a pandemic or not and in a state of lockdown, we must not lose sight of the fact that this month SLU3A celebrates 20 very successful years.  The actual date is 24th May.  We have moved the anniversary event to May 2021, when we plan to celebrate our 21st birthday.  We hope to recognise all those members that pioneered the creation of SLU3A and those that subsequently joined.  At its peak, we have had just over 1,000 members.  The creation and on going support of 70+ groups is a huge achievement.  This only continues to happen with thanks to the many members who volunteer in some way.  Ensuring we have continuity of SLU3A and all its activities is a huge challenge and one that I know we can all work together to ensure over the coming weeks and months.  We may have to find some different ways of operating and will, no doubt, be seeking ideas from groups on how to do this and ways of keeping in touch.  As I write this, I have yet to see the copy within this first, all electronic newsletter, but I am sure it will be full of ways that you have been doing this and keeping busy.

If you have yet to do so, sign up for the national electronic, monthly newsletter: https://www.u3a.org.uk/email
