From the Chair

It’s turning out to be a busy year for SLU3A and I will use my update to remind you of several events.  Firstly, do pick up your tickets for the  20th Anniversary celebration (on 11th May) at the monthly meeting in March or at the special date of Monday 20th April, 9.30 to 10.30 am at the Congregational Church (remember that there is no monthly meeting in April as the second Monday falls on Easter Monday).  It should be lots of fun and there are two sessions, one at 10 to 11 am and another at 11.30 am to 12.30 pm.  Admission is strictly by ticket (£1 donation) and these can be exchanged for a glass of Prosecco and birthday cake!  If you can loan any photos taken during the last 20 years for our memory board, please speak to a Committee member.

Secondly, tickets for the Barn Dance on Saturday 16th May are selling fast and can be purchased as mentioned above.  Similarly, please pay your 2020-21 subs early, on either of the dates already mentioned.  You will be able to pay on 11th May but as there will be lots of other things happening that morning, it would be great if you could pay in advance.  The quickest way is to pay on line by visiting our website and click on the link mid page:  Needless to say, it also means less work for your already busy Membership Secretary and Treasurer!  15% of members renewed this way last year, so let’s see if we can improve on that for 2020-21.

Lastly, make a note of National U3A day on Wednesday 3rd June when we shall be celebrating all that U3As offer and raise awareness.  We are working with Market Harborough U3A to plan a 3.5 mile walk that morning around Market Harborough, with the likelihood that other groups will join us in the park.  If you do have any ideas on how your group might get involved, then do speak to a Committee member.  More details nearer the time.
