From the Chair

Now that we are well into the new year, I can share with you with the details of what your Committee has been busy planning for our 20th anniversary celebration on Monday 11 May 2020 (our normal monthly meeting day) in the Jubilee Hall at the Congregational Church.   It’s a great opportunity for members to come along and celebrate with Prosecco and cake, as well as meeting the 40 or so founder members of SLU3A. There will be stalls celebrating the enormous achievements of our 70+ groups, as well as displays in various media recording current activities.  A memory board will reflect on the past 20 years and in the background will be music from the Bellplates group.  Everyone can join in with some songs led by the Singing for Fun group and the newly formed band will play some memorable tunes.  Our Regional Trustee, Jean Hogg, will be present to briefly conclude the celebrations.  We are a large U3A and we have planned 2 events: one from 10 am to 11 am and another from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm.  Admission will be by ticket only (donation of £1) which will be exchanged for a drink and cake (founder members will receive a special invitation).  Tickets will be available at the February and March monthly meetings and at a special session on Monday 20th April, 9.30 to 10.30 am (no monthly meeting in April as it coincides with Easter).  The Committee and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on 11 May.

PS  Any members who have memorable photos of SLU3A activities over the last 20 years and are willing to share them, please speak to me at the monthly meeting or email:
