Bridge (Tuesday morning) – July 2020

The UK government has announced further easing of the lockdown restrictions in England from 4th July including reopening churches for worship and prayer but no singing allowed.

However, having studied the new guidelines they still clearly state:

“Only visit venues in groups of up to TWO households (your support bubble counts as one household) or with groups of SIX people from different households if OUTDOORS.”

In order to resume our bridge sessions we need to be able to bring together up to TWENTY people from EIGHTEEN different households INDOORS and seat them in groups of FOUR different households around a bridge table. Clearly we are still some way away from being able to do that. So, if not now, when? At the ‘final’ Downing Street briefing the Chief Medical Officer, Chris Whitty, said he would be “surprised and delighted if we weren’t in this current situation through the winter and into next spring.”

As the Fathers’ Day card my son sent me put it:

We’ll remember this year as the year our bins went out more than we did!
