Our first three round knockout bridge competition will be on 16th January at 10.00 prompt.
Our January revision board explains how to use the ‘Rule of 20’.
Strictly speaking there are only three rules to bridge. They are to make a higher bid than the one before, to follow suit if you can and to be courteous to your partner and opponents. So the ‘Rule of 20’ isn’t a rule in the strict sense of the word but rather a useful device to help judge when you should open the bidding at the one level with less than twelve high card points and this month’s board demonstrates how using it can make the difference between bidding and making a game contract or passing out a deal.
