Our book this month was
‘White Chrysanthemum’ by Mary Lynn Bracht
- Hana, a young Korean woman, is snatched from her family and coerced into sexual slavery. She is one of hundreds of thousands of ‘comfort women’ forced to serve the Japanese army. The author does not hold back from showing us the brutality perpetrated against these women. This is a devastating but compelling read in which we are given glimpses of human courage and compassion shining like stars through breaks between clouds in the night sky.
