A fairly disappointing morning at Melton Country Park in April due, no doubt, to the fine drizzle that persisted for most of our time there. Warblers were confined to chiffchaff, blackcap and willow warblers. The only other birds of note were several bullfinch, a reed bunting and a solitary swallow. As not many of us are able to make our normal third Thursday in May we’ll also be meeting on the first Thursday, the 4th May, when we’ll probably try a site further afield. The group is currently at maximum strength, as it has been for some time, AND I’ve got a reserve list too. Bruce White.
