Bird Watching – February 2020

Female Goosander

Lots of interest at Draycote Water last month despite the wind. We were all amused to watch a Little Grebe attempting, succesfully in the end, to swallow a fish the same size as him! Among the rocks on the dam a couple of Grey Wagtail were probing for food whilst out on the water a couple of Scaup were spotted amongst a flock of Goldeneye; nearby were three female Goosander (pictured) but no sign of any males! Pick of the few small birds about were a pair of Chiffchaff.
