Fortunately for us the rain stopped just before we set off around Watermead Country Park but up until then that was looking pretty grim. By the time we finished we were basking in warm sunshine! A surprise on entering the Plover hide was that the Flash on Wanlip Meadows was completely without water so there was little to see there! A Jay was located soon after followed by a few Reed Warblers. Other warblers still around were Common Whitethroat, Willow Warbler and Blackcap. King Lear’s Lake was a hive of activity with swooping House & Sand Martins and the odd Swallow. Grey Herons were much in evidence, the one pictured causing much amusement! The Great Crested Grebe family
were a sight to behold with the four young and their humbug striped heads!
