Architecture – November

We meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 2.00pm in the Lounge at the Congregational Church.  We had a great meeting in October when everyone present thoroughly enjoyed a quiz organised by Colin and Geoff. Six teams, named after architectural styles – Art Deco, Brutalist, Georgian, Gothic, Palladian and Rococo battled it out over ten rounds and 130 questions. Rococo triumphed with 113 points and took the Cup with the wooden spoon going to the Brutalists on 85 points! Great fun was had by all and we look forward to competing again next year. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 27 November. There is a change in the advertised programme. Glenys will give her talk ‘Architecture across the Centuries – Northumberland Style’ in the New Year. In November Dudley will introduce two Betjeman films on ‘Devizes and Malmesbury’, Colin’s topic is ‘Grotesque, garish and gauche – the Carbuncle Cup’ and Peter will talk about ‘Belton House’. New members are always very welcome. Please contact me if you are interested in joining the Group.
