Architecture – Febarury 2020

At our January meeting members expressed their sincere thanks to Peter Ellement who is relinquishing his fifteen-year role as group leader and returning to the ‘back benches’. Under his stewardship the group has grown significantly as a steady stream of new members have been welcomed to explore the world of buildings and the people who fashion them. Geoff kicked off the 2020 programme with a talk about two internationally acclaimed architects who died last year – I M Pei a Chinese-American perhaps best-known for the iconic glass triangle outside The Louvre in Paris; and Cesar Pelli whose works include the Canada Square tower at Canary Wharf and the Petronas twin-towers in Kuala Lumpur. Our next meeting is on Tuesday 25 February at 2.00 pm in the Lounge at the Congregational Church when Judith will be telling us about Geddington Church and Peter will be telling us about Belton Church. New members are always very welcome. Please contact one or other of us if you are interested in joining the group.
