A bumper morning at Summer Leys for the half a dozen of us not involved in other Easter holiday activities! Not for a very long time have we seen the water levels on the scrape just right for waders with the result that Black-tailed
Godwit, Dunlin, Little Ringed Plover, Ringed Plover and Snipe were observed. Elsewhere around the reserve we saw Oystercatcher, Redshank, Little and Great White Egret and first-for-year sightings of Swallow and Common Tern. Warblers singing away included Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Blackcap, Sedge and Cetti’s Warblers – the last mentioned heard but needless to say not actually seen!
