We meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 10am.  In June, Peter presented a programme of music with the title of Summer.  We began with ‘A Song before Sunrise’, one of several pieces by Frederick Delius (1862-1934).  This was followed by ‘Fresh Morning’ by Eric Coates (1886-1957) and the poem ‘Adlestrop’ read by […]

We meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 2pm in the Lounge at the Congregational Church.  In June we spent the afternoon with Alan Clifton-Taylor looking at the architecture of Lewes and Whitby.  In July Colin and Dudley will give a joint presentation with the enigmatic title ‘London Unrealised and Exhausted’.  Check out […]

Mike’s Monthly Musings – July

Hot, Cool, Swinging…. As I write this, I’m sitting in air conditioned apartment in Colmar in Alsace with an outside temperature in excess of 37C and listening to the ex-Basie trumpeter Harry Edison swinging his way through a typical Basie-like tune, with Edison quoting nursey rhymes and joined by another ex-Basie musician, tenor saxist Lockjaw […]

Singles Sunday Lunch (No 1) – June meeting

Ten of us got together from Group 1 of the Singles Sunday Lunches on Sunday 25th June, at the Waterside Restaurant in Market Harborough.  It was lovely to be able to catch up with everyone but, unfortunately the service was excruciatingly slow.  The fish was off the menu and the beef was rather tough.  This […]
