Guten Tag!  Usual nonsense follows. After a utepils or two, it is easy to desbundar: you may well then form a schnapsidee!  But not if you speak English, because we don’t have single words for the various emotional states in that sentence.  Utepils is Norwegian for ‘a beer enjoyed outside on the first hot day […]

Singles Sunday Lunch (No 1) – May meeting

On Sunday 22nd May, ten members of Group 1 of the Singles Sunday Lunch Groups met for lunch at the Thornhill Arms in Rushton.  This was a new pub to a number of us but, whilst being very large, it  managed to be both intimate and welcoming.  We all enjoyed a very good, tasty lunch whilst catching […]

Patchwork & Quilting (No 1) – May & June meetings

Walking – All Day

An eventful day for our May outing as we completed an enjoyable 9.25 mile walk around the Northamptonshire countryside, walking from Draughton to Faxton, Old, Scaldwell and Lamport.  Firstly, we battled our way through shoulder high oil seed rape in a couple of fields, then during our pub stop we spotted Adam of Countryfile fame […]

Walking – All Day

There is no local walk in June as the annual walking short break will be taking place in the Norfolk Broads from the 28th to 30th June.  This will be the final break organised by Peter and Janet Ellement, after many years, and I am sure that all walkers would like to join us in […]
