Patchwork & Quilting (No 1) – May & June meetings

We spent May having a go at English Paper Piecing.  Some of us are already very familiar with it, like Di who is in the process of making a fabulous double bed quilt out of hexies made from fabric she’s had for many years (we’ve all got lots of that!), or fabric she bought and now can’t remember why (we’ve all got lots of that!), and fabric left over from previous projects (we’ve all got lots of that too!).  Some of our newer members were keen to learn our amazingly simple method and it has proved to be so, so popular!  Already Judith has almost finished her first hexie cushion – well done that girl!  It really is a fantastic way to use up your stash, and is incredibly portable too, just the thing to take on holiday with you.

We only had one meeting in June when Chris ran another workshop, and this time the topic was Trapunto.  Everyone did incredibly well and Chris was amazed at how quickly this new technique was learned!  There will be one more Trapunto workshop in July to give everyone the opportunity to finish the project, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the results!  Lesley.
