In December at our Christmas meeting members played a piece of their own choice. During the morning we heard ‘Prelude and De Teum’ by Charpentier; ‘Slavonic Dances’ by Tchaikovsky; ‘Danse Macabre’ by Saint-Saens; ‘Can-Can’ from ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’ by Offenbach; ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ sung by Bryn Terfel; ‘Mephisto Waltz No 1’ by Liszt; ‘Brandenburg Concerto No 1’ by Bach; ‘Rondo’ from the ‘Piano Concerto No 1 in C’ by Beethoven; ‘Pavane’ by Faure; ‘Kyrie from ‘Petite Messe Solennelle’ by Rossini; ‘Allegro con Brio’ from ‘Piano Concerto No 5 in E flat major (Emperor)’ by Beethoven; and we finished with Christmas music from ‘Messiah’ by Handel. Part way through this musical feast we enjoyed coffee and mince pies! Thank you all for a great morning of music. We look forward to another year of great music, starting when we meet again on Tuesday, 17th January 2017. Peter Ellement.
