Our June meeting was cancelled after several members were unable to attend. However, we managed a ‘Full House’ on the last Friday in July when we listened to music inspired by the sea by Arnold Bax, Benjamin Britten, Claude Debussy and Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov. Jaques Ibert provided his Symphonie Marine which was developed from what was the first piece of music written for film in Europe in 1931. The morning ended with a nod to the BBC Proms with the music from the main titles of ‘Sea Hawk’ by Eric Korngold. We shall be meeting next on Friday, August 25th. Geoff Moth.
