Music Appreciation (Friday) – April meeting

At our April meeting we celebrated Spring by listening to music from composers over five centuries.  Starting with Vivaldi, we went on to Robert Schumann with a movement from his Symphony No 1 (Spring Symphony), then to Tchaikovsky and Glazenov for the Spring Sections of their ‘Seasons’ pieces.  Finally we burst into the twentieth century with Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring and completed the morning with Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring.  Our next meeting will be on the 26th May and I have a vacancy to fill, so if you are interested in joining us do please contact me.  Geoff Moth.
