May outing report

Swifts filled the sky along with a few Swallow and House Martin as we began our walk around Titchmarsh Nature Reserve on a fine, but cool in the wind, sunny day. Along by the River Nene the warblers were in full voice but difficult to see now the trees were in full leaf! Heard, if not glimpsed, were Cetti’s, Sedge, Reed, Garden & Willow Warbler, Whitethroat and Blackcap. Banded Demoiselle were much in evidence everywhere as a couple of Hobby were seen drifting around. No doubt about the star of the day though as a Cuckoo was heard several times before it flew over us and then settled nearby to give us all grand views of this much loved bird.
