Local History – May

We enjoyed a fascinating talk on Mercian Leicestershire given by Peter Liddle.  He is an excellent speaker and we will be inviting him back in 2019.

The next meeting of the Group is on Tuesday 15th May and we are delighted to welcome as the Speaker, Bob Trubshaw who is the “Head of of Heart of Albion Press” who publish books and DVD’s on Local History and Folklore in this Region.

His talk is on “Little Known Leicestershire and Rutland”. His interests, vary from standing stones, ancient crosses, and medieval church carvings to holy wells and make for some fascinating insights into the history of this area. It should be a very interesting talk.

There will be no meeting in June as it is the Trip to Holdenby Hall. The Hall is situated betweenthe A428 and A5199,near East Haddon. The tour wiil commence at 2.30pm, so please aim to arrive about 2.00pm.

For the 23 members booked on the Minibuses, they are due to leave the Market Hall at 1.30pm.

Just a reminder that the meetings take place in the Jubilee Hall between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm.  Tea and coffee are available at the end of each meeting – our thanks to Irene and Kevin for their help.
