The second meeting of the Local History group in the Main Hall at the Church, on Tuesday 21st March, proved a much smoother event than our previous one in February. I was extremely grateful to Peter Wilford and Colin Sole from Harborough Film Makers for agreeing to come to us at the last minute when my original speaker let us down. The film show of four of their films was extremely interesting and informative and was much enjoyed by all of the forty-four members present.
At the end of the showing, Peter Wilford informed us that, from Thursday 20th to Sunday 23rd April, Market Harborough will be hosting the International Short Film Festival at the Three Swans Hotel. Harborough Film Makers have submitted two of their short films – ‘The Renovation of the Old Grammar School’ and ‘The Renovation of the Canal and Locks at Welford’. All submitted films are graded from 1 to 5 and the Film Makers are ‘over the moon’ to have been awarded a 4 grade for both films. Members of the public are able to go along to view the various films at the hotel for an £11 day pass. It should be a very interesting weekend.
