Local Blooming Great Tea Party is raising more dough for Marie Curie

Mel Giedroyc is supporting Marie Curie this year and is getting in the tea party mood

Thousands of people up and down the country are getting together with friends, family or colleagues to host a tea party, bake sale or special tea break in aid of Marie Curie this June.  The money raised from Blooming Great Tea Parties will help Marie Curie provide vital care and support to people living with a terminal illness and their families across the UK.

The South Leicestershire Fundraising Group are jointly hosting a Blooming Great Tea Party at Whetstone Pastures Fruit Farm on Wednesday June 13th and everyone is invited to come, catch up with friends old and new and enjoy tea and cake for a good cause.

The event starts at 2.00pm at Whetstone Pastures Farm fruit field, Whetstone Gorse Lane, Off Lutterworth Road. 1 mile along from the Dog & Gun Pub. (Look out for the colourful banner!)

You may even have time to pick your own strawberries which are grown in the ground – no tables or poly tunnels!  Enjoy the fresh air; hear the birds singing, the pleasure of freshly picked fruit and a well-deserved and enjoyable cup of tea.  Let nature feed your senses!

The tea party tickets are £2.50 available on the day (children FREE) and will include homemade cakes, plant sale, tombola, Flamingo Paperie cards, a raffle, quiz and much, much more!

Cara Ackerman, a Marie Curie fundraising volunteer said: “Every £20.00 raised pays for an hour of hands-on care from a Marie Curie Nurse – helping control someone’s pain, making sure they are comfortable, just listening if they need to talk and also providing invaluable emotional support to their families.  Last year’s Blooming Great Tea Party raised over £1,496, which is over 74 valuable hours of nursing care that the generous people of South Leicestershire donated.  Their generosity helped to provide support to those with a terminal illness and their families making the most of the time they have together.

It is wonderful to be hosting a Blooming Great Tea Party again at Whetstone Pastures Fruit Farm for the local South Leicestershire community.  We love welcoming friends who have been supporting our group over the past few years as well as new faces coming along for the first time.  Great fun is had by all over a cuppa and a slice or two of scrumptious cake!”
