May, and it may be Spring cleaning time for some of us but just be careful what you throw out. A colourful, but chipped, old plate which had been hanging on a kitchen wall in Somerset for years, barely getting a glance was identified as a 16th century plate depicting a design ‘The Feast of Herod’ by a German printmaker, Sebald Beham. The owner was advised it might fetch £100,000 at auction; it actually sold for £567,000! Don’t even think about all that junk you threw out last week! PS: There is no German word for ‘jumble sale’!!
