From Our Chairman

What a wonderful land we live in! Sunshine, showers and also snow. Is it really the beginning of spring? However, don’t get disheartened, SLU3A is still providing a warm smile and lots of activities for us to take our minds off the awful weather.

With this in mind, I have to tell you that the dreaded Annual General Meeting of our association is drawing near and we are looking forward to you, the members to assist us in ensuring that we will continue with our successful operations. The way that you can do this involves two courses of action on your part. The first is to think seriously about whether you or your companions feel strongly enough about our association that you would be prepared to step forward as a possible member of the committee and assist in the organisation of our continued success. If so, get hold of a nomination form and get a couple of other members to nominate you. The second thing that I am asking you to do is to join us at the AGM and vote where required. As well as this, there is the opportunity to make known any views/criticisms that you may have.

To steal President Kennedy’s idea, “Think not what the U3A can do for you, but what you can do for the U3A”.

Moving on to another topic, As I’m sure you are aware, SLU3A is working hard to involve itself with other groups, associations and community projects in Market Harborough. Something that occurred recently was an approach by Little Bowden Primary School who are looking for help with their pupils’ reading skills. The committee has agreed that we should help if possible and so we agreed to pass this request onto you the members. Please think about giving some help if you can.
