It was a new reserve for us in April at Northamptonshire Wildlife Trust’s Irthlingborough Lakes and Meadows site. Warblers were singing everywhere, including chiffchaff, willow warbler, blackcap, sedge warbler and common whitethroat. Emphasizing that Spring had really arrived, our first swallows and common terns were recorded. In May, weather permitting, we’ll take picnics and do two reserves not done before in the north-west of the county. Toilets are available in the car park at one of them. Details will be given a day or two before the meeting, after the forecast is assimilated. Bruce White.
