Bird Watching – March

February’s trip to the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust’s Brandon Marsh reserve was notable for several views of undoubtedly the prettiest of our crows, the Jay (pictured). Noteworthy too was watching a pair of Nuthatch in and out of a recently excavated hole in a large tree, presumably nest building. Other than the usual Lapwings the only wader seen was a solitary Oystercatcher. Similarly, a Buzzard was the only raptor about. The low sunlight brought out the best of the colours in the water birds, particulary the Shoveler, as a large group of them circled around in a frenzy! With a vacancy in the Group we welcomed Hilary into the fold!
March’s outing is on the 14th.
