December’s visit to East Carlton Country Park coincided with an overcast, murky morning but mild with it. A Great Spotted Woodpecker greeted us from the top of the fir trees whilst we were hanging around the toilets! Possibly unsurprising but the place was pretty quiet. Nevertheless a Goldcrest was spotted a couple of times, a pair of Mistle Thrushes high up in a tree and similarly a pair of Stock Doves later on. A Marsh Tit was heard but couldn’t be tracked down unlike the Nuthatch that was heard a few times before eventually being spotted. Thanks to Mary for rounding off the morning with her delicious mince pies before we retired to the café for a welcome hot drink.
January’s outing is on the 18th. Details by email to you a day or two before.
